WEST HOUSTON COMMUNITY CENTER

As a 28-year member of St. Thomas Presbyterian Church, and Executive Director
of West Houston Community Center, I am proud of what is going on just north
of the church.
Did you know that St. Thomas gave seed money to start
WHCC, and leases us the land for $1 a year? This new building replaces the “white building” which
sat behind St. Thomas and was the original sanctuary. Over the years, it became
run down and dilapidated, and became too small for our needs. The new 12,000
square foot building weekly helps some 1200 adults and young people benefit
from our well-established and effective programs. These programs help these
people confront their problems, learn to develop healthy relationships, heal
their wounds, and regain their lives.
The building currently houses Palmer Drug Abuse Program, Alcoholics Anonymous,
Interface-Samaritan Counseling Center, and Young Life. Groups under consideration
are Cocaine Anonymous, ESL, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, effective parenting, family
literacy, abuse and violence prevention, nutrition and wellness, and after
school remedial and enrichment programs.
The building is finished, but our financial needs are not. As a non-profit
organization, we will always be dependent on donations from the community.
We currently have needs for monies to help us finish paying off the bank loan,
and monies for operating expenses.
We appreciate your tax-deductible gift in any amount.
We also accept credit cards and stock. Won’t you help us today?
If you can’t stop by and see the building (just
behind St. Thomas), see us on the web at www.westhoustoncc.com, or call me
for a guided tour to
see your donations in action.
Send your donations to: West Houston Community Center, 725 Bateswood, Suite
230, Houston, Texas, 77079.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Regards,
John Funk
Executive Director
