About Us

The West Houston Community Center is an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to providing quality facilities that support the community. 

It began as a community outreach program of St. Thomas Presbyterian Church.  Programs were housed in what became known as the old "White Building".  It was intended to be a temporary home for the new church while it took roots in the community and built a suitable permanent structure.  Once St. Thomas was in its new permanent building, rather than tearing down the temporary structure, the elders of the church decided to use it for community outreach programs. The old white building ultimately served in this capacity for over 30 years.  It became the hub of numerous community based self-help and personal development programs.  However, increased use and the passage of time took its toll on the building.  Safety concerns, maintenance issues and operational expenses began to outweigh St. Thomas's ability to continue the operations of the white building.  If these important programs were to continue, something had to be done.

The West Houston Community Center was incorporated in 1996 as an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization.  The mission of the West Houston Community Center (WHCC) is to provide the community with a dynamic facility offering an array of programs and services through which individuals and families can restore purpose and productivity to their lives, learn new skills, develop healthy relationships and experience positive mental, physical, spiritual and emotional growth.

WHCC is managed by an Executive Director and an independent board of directors.
